Gangnam-gu will host the "Clean Gangnam Global Talk Show" on Sept. 2 at 5:30 p.m. in the first-floor lobby of the Gangnam District Office, District Mayor Kim Hyun-ki announced.
The event is an interactive integrity program designed to engage residents in open dialogue. Gangnam-gu has earned a top rating in the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission's integrity assessment for three consecutive years, cementing its reputation as an integrity leader. The talk show will compare standards and everyday experiences of integrity across different cultures, aiming to make the concept more accessible and engaging for the public.
Announcer Hwang Jeong-min will host the event, joined by Samy Rashad, a broadcaster from Egypt, and Julia Varund, a broadcaster from Finland. The cast will discuss integrity, fairness and public-service ethics as understood in their home countries, along with cultural differences they have encountered in daily life. The event invites residents to view familiar Korean standards of integrity through a global lens and reflect on the values a cosmopolitan district like Gangnam should uphold.
The talk show is open to all residents. Pre-registration is available through Sept. 1 via QR code or phone, with seats assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. Because the event is held in the open first-floor lobby of the district office, anyone may attend on the day without prior registration.
Gangnam-gu has been developing programs that blend participation and cultural experiences so that staff do not perceive integrity solely as dry regulations or mandatory training. In April, the district held a "Learn It, Keep It, Enjoy It! Integrity Survival Workshop," using quizzes and group activities to make anti-corruption and integrity rules more engaging. In July, to mark the launch of the ninth elected-term administration, the district staged the "Dudeurim Integrity Concert," combining nanta percussion performances with educational content to promote a fair and accountable public-service culture.
The district also runs "Clean Gangnam Partners," a public-private cooperative network aimed at spreading an integrity culture throughout the community. Gangnam-gu and 17 local companies and organizations participate together, carrying out joint integrity initiatives and issuing shared pledges to strengthen their commitment to ethical practice inside and outside their organizations.
"I hope this event will be a time to share thoughts on integrity and build a common understanding of what it means," District Mayor Kim said. "We will continue to firmly uphold the values of integrity as a leader in this area, and work together with residents to build an integrity culture rooted in communication and action."
