Samyang Biopharm announced Thursday that a preclinical research paper on NanoReady, its proprietary gene delivery platform for messenger RNA (mRNA) cancer treatment vaccines, has been selected as the cover paper of the Journal of Controlled Release, a leading international academic journal in drug delivery and formulation technology.
NanoReady is built on Samyang Biopharm's proprietary SENS-based gene delivery platform and takes the form of a nanoparticle combining a self-developed lipid with a biodegradable polymer. It is designed to selectively deliver mRNA to dendritic cells in the spleen, which play a central role in immune function.
A key feature of the platform is that the carrier can be manufactured and stored in advance, allowing a personalized vaccine to be prepared quickly and easily by mixing it with the patient's mRNA once the relevant cancer antigen information becomes available. Its multilayer structure enables it to load approximately 20 times more mRNA per particle than conventional lipid nanoparticles (LNP), inducing a potent anti-tumor T-cell immune response.
The formulation also eliminates PEG-lipid and phosphatidylcholine (PC)-class helper lipids used in conventional LNP, with the composition optimized accordingly. This addresses premature clearance and hypersensitivity reactions that can occur with repeated dosing, securing the safety profile required for cancer treatment vaccines that must be administered multiple consecutive times.
Animal studies in non-human primates confirmed selective delivery of cancer antigen mRNA to splenic cells and a strong T-cell immune response. Blood and tissue tests conducted after repeated dosing showed no signs of systemic toxicity, further validating the platform's safety.
The research is considered significant because it overcomes two key limitations of existing LNP technology — limited loading capacity and immunogenicity-related side effects — while achieving rapid manufacturing convenience and strong therapeutic efficacy, bringing the commercialization of personalized mRNA cancer vaccines a step closer.
Beyond NanoReady, Samyang Biopharm is pursuing publication of follow-up papers on SENS-based delivery systems applicable to preventive vaccines and treatments for liver and lung diseases. The company also plans to expand its pipeline into next-generation modalities, including in vivo CAR-T therapies and central nervous system (CNS)-targeted treatments.

"We will accelerate platform-based business expansion, including development of our own pipeline as well as global technology exports and co-development of new drugs."
