The Korean Sport & Olympic Committee has launched its "2040 K-Sports Vision Expert Group" to begin developing a long-term strategy for the future of Korean sports.
The committee held an appointment ceremony and inaugural meeting Thursday at the National Training Center in Jincheon. The session introduced members to the committee's key policies and projects and shared the operating plan for the "2040 K-Sports Insight Session."
The expert group comprises 11 specialists drawn from government, law, academia, sports and the private sector. Members include Chung Un-chan, chairman of the Institute for Co-prosperity and former prime minister; Cho Hyun-jae, chairman of the Korea Pickleball Association and former first vice minister of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Oh Taek-won, an attorney at law firm Yulchon; Kim Young-seok, a professor at Postech; Kang Jun-ho, a professor at Seoul National University; Kim Mi-ok, a professor at Korea National Sport University; and Park Chan-ho, chief executive of Team 61 and a former national team baseball player.
Through the 2040 K-Sports Insight Sessions, the committee aims to identify future policy directions and specific action items for Korean sports, with plans to unveil the "2040 K-Sports Vision" at its regular general assembly in February 2028.
