Man in his 90s indicted for killing wife he suspected of affair

A man in his 90s has been indicted on murder charges after allegedly strangling his wife, who was in her 80s, over suspicions she was having an affair.

The Seoul Eastern District Prosecutors Office indicted the man, identified only as A, on Aug. 13 on murder charges.

A is accused of strangling his wife, identified as B, at their apartment in Gwangjin-gu at around 10:30 a.m. on July 21. B was rushed to a hospital but was pronounced dead.

Immediately after the incident, A called a family member and confessed to the killing. The family then reported the matter to police.

During police questioning, A reportedly said he had argued with his wife after suspecting her of having an affair and strangled her during the altercation.

Police arrested A on an emergency basis and transferred the case to prosecutors on July 28.
