North Gyeongsang education office announces 2027 public school teacher recruitment plan

The North Gyeongsang Provincial Office of Education said Wednesday it has published a preliminary notice on its website outlining the subject areas, number of positions and exam schedule for the 2027 competitive teacher appointment examination for public schools.

A total of 466 teachers are to be recruited, a figure calculated by factoring in the Ministry of Education's provisional teacher quota allocations, retirements and early retirements, and projected student and class numbers.

The figure represents a drop of 91 from the 557 positions announced in last year's preliminary notice.

By category, the planned recruitment breaks down as follows: 192 elementary school teachers, 117 secondary school teachers, 51 kindergarten teachers, 39 special education teachers, 24 professional counseling teachers, 17 health teachers, 16 nutrition teachers and 10 school librarians.

Final subject areas, position numbers and detailed exam specifications will be confirmed and announced through an official implementation plan notice.

For elementary school teachers, the implementation plan will be published Sept. 9, with the first-stage exam set for Nov. 7 and the second-stage exam running from Jan. 6 to Jan. 8, 2027.

For secondary school teachers, the implementation plan will be published Sept. 30, with the first-stage exam on Nov. 28 and the second-stage exam scheduled for Jan. 14, 2027, and Jan. 20 to Jan. 21, 2027.
