Actor Hong Min-gi faces dating violence, abortion coercion allegations as fan publicly renounces support

Actor Hong Min-gi has been swept up in allegations of dating violence and abortion coercion, and the controversy deepened Wednesday when a person claiming to be one of his fans posted a lengthy public statement renouncing their support for him.

The online user, identified only as B, wrote on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday that they had once visited a fan-organized birthday cafe held in Hong's honor.

B said Hong took it for granted that fans would spend their money and time on him, and described him as someone who only acknowledged gift posts if the items were of significant monetary value.

B also alleged that Hong disliked encountering fans in person — that he would rebuke them to their faces when recognized, or pretend to go to the restroom to avoid conversation.

"Why did he make a show of changing his flight to Japan just to come to the birthday cafe when he didn't even want to be there?" B wrote, adding: "I can only think that what was bound to happen has happened. I hope he is punished for everything he has done and never makes a comeback."

The post was widely interpreted as B abandoning their fandom.

The claims have not been verified, but they drew attention for echoing allegations made separately by a woman identified as A, who says she is Hong's former girlfriend.

Earlier, A alleged that Hong had subjected her to dating violence.

She said Hong assaulted her without consent during sex and that physical violence continued afterward. She also released photographs showing bruises and injuries on parts of her body, and said Hong grabbed her arms and shoulders and shoved her toward a door between July 5 and 6, causing further injuries.

A also alleged that on July 23, after taking abortion medication, she went to Hong while suffering abdominal pain and emotional distress, only to be assaulted again. She released what she said were an ultrasound image — with the name and date of birth obscured — and medical records for methotrexate treatment.

After Hong's side issued a rebuttal, A deleted all of her posts but said she intended to file a criminal complaint and have him held accountable in court.

Hong's agency, Fable Company, has denied the allegations, calling them "groundless."

Meanwhile, Hong, born in 2002, made his debut in 2020 and has appeared in productions including "Bam-i Doeeotseumnida," "Sarangeun Oenamu Dari-eseo," "Study Group" and "Bani wa Oppadeul." He is set to appear in "Study Group Season 2," a Tving original led by Hwang Min-hyun.
