Joo Su-bin climbs to tied 2nd at LPGA Tour CPKC Women's Open after bogey-free 63

Joo Su-bin shot a bogey-free 7-under-par 63 in the second round of the LPGA Tour CPKC Women's Open ($7.5 million purse) to vault into a share of second place.

Playing at Royal Mayfair Golf Club (par 70) in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, on Saturday, Joo carded seven birdies without a bogey to post the round of the day.

Her two-round total of 9-under 131 leaves her five shots behind leader Yamashita Miyu of Japan, who sits at 14-under 126. The gap is not small, but it remains well within striking distance over the final two rounds.

Joo made her LPGA Tour debut in 2023 but has yet to claim a victory. Last year she was pushed to the qualifying series, where she finished solo second to retain her tour card for this season. She has recorded two top-10 finishes in 2026, with her best result a tie for fourth at the ShopRite LPGA in June.

Joo came out aggressively on Saturday, making three consecutive birdies from the second hole (par 3) through the fourth (par 4), then adding another at the sixth (par 4) to turn at 4-under. She kept the momentum on the back nine, birdieing the 10th (par 4) before closing with back-to-back birdies at the 15th and 16th, both par 4s.

"It's not like everything is clicking perfectly, but I know what I need to do and what I need to work on," Joo said after her round. "That's been a big help this season." She added that conditions were generally favorable despite some wind on the back nine. "I'm going to stay focused on my own game and enjoy every moment out there," she said.

Among other South Korean players, Lee So-mi shot a 5-under 65 to sit at 6-under 134 in a tie for 12th. Kim Se-young moved to 4-under 136 for a tie for 21st after a 2-under round, while rookie Lee Dong-eun is tied for 29th at 3-under 137.

An Na-rin is tied for 37th at 2-under 138. Choi Hye-jin, Lee Mi-hyang and Yang Hee-young share 45th at 1-under 139, while Kim Hyo-joo, Shin Ji-eun and Park Geum-gang are tied for 56th at even-par 140. Hwang Yu-min, Lee Jeong-eun (born 1996), Lee Jeong-eun (born 1988), Jeon Ji-won, Choi Woon-jeong, Ko Jin-young, Kang Min-ji and Lim Jin-hee all missed the cut.

Yoshida Yuri of Japan and Chiara Romero of the United States joined Joo in the tie for second at 9-under 131.

World No. 1 Nelly Korda of the United States managed only an even-par 70 on Saturday, slipping to 3-under 137 and a tie for 29th. Defending champion Brooke Henderson of Canada is tied for 18th at 5-under 135.
