Lee So-mi jumps to 5th at LPGA Tour CPKC Women's Open after third round

Lee So-mi surged into contention at the LPGA Tour CPKC Women's Open, which carries a purse of $7.5 million, after a strong third round Sunday.

Playing at Royal Mayfair Golf Club (par 70) in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, Lee carded eight birdies against one double bogey and one bogey for a 5-under-par 65 on Sunday.

Her three-round total of 11-under-par 199 lifted her seven spots to sole fifth place, up from her position Saturday. Solo leader Yamashita Miyu of Japan sits at 19-under-par 191 — eight strokes clear of Lee — making a final-round comeback a tall order.

Lee joined the LPGA Tour in 2024 and claimed her first victory in 2025 at the team event Dow Championship, partnering with Im Jin-hee. Her best individual result this year came at the Honda LPGA Thailand in March, where she finished solo fourth.

Lee raced to 5 under through 10 holes before a double bogey on the par-5 12th halted her momentum. She added three more birdies afterward but dropped another stroke on the par-4 18th, leaving her unable to close the gap on the leader.

Kim Sei-young, a 13-time LPGA Tour winner, posted a bogey-free 6-under round to move into a tie for sixth at 10-under-par 200.

Lee Dong-eun, who made her LPGA Tour debut this year, also went bogey-free with six birdies to sit in a tie for 10th at 9-under-par 201. Her best LPGA Tour finish to date was a tie for 14th at the ShopRite LPGA in May.

Joo Su-bin, who had climbed to a tie for second after the second round, dropped one stroke and fell to a tie for 13th at 8-under-par 202.

World No. 1 Nelly Korda of the United States managed only a 1-under round, finishing the third round in a tie for 30th at 4-under-par 206.
