Geumcheon-gu, led by District Mayor Choi Gi-chan, will run a series of regular courses in AI, coding and other future technologies for teenagers and adults at Geumcheon Science Cube from September through December, the district said.
The program has been expanded from 11 to 13 courses, reflecting participant feedback and first-half results. The lineup adds more hands-on sessions where participants build their own projects using AI and coding — including chatbot, video and game creation, autonomous driving coding, and fabrication using 3D printers and laser cutters. Certificate courses and an AI qualification program introduced in the first half will also continue.
Adult courses cover AI use in everyday life, AI-powered work automation, building apps with AI, making accessories with a laser cutter, and creating original works with a 3D printer. The lineup is practice-oriented and designed to apply directly to daily life and the workplace.
Courses for teenagers include AI fundamentals and advanced AI, an AI qualification program, chatbot, video and game creation, and autonomous driving coding. The AI qualification program offered a Level 3 course in the first half; a new Level 2 preparation class will be added in the second half to support step-by-step learning.
The certificate-track courses introduced earlier this year will also continue. "AI in Everyday Life for Seniors" and "Work Automation with AI: Build Your Own AI Assistant" will each run for 12 sessions. Participants who attend at least 80 percent of classes will receive a certificate of completion issued in the district mayor's name.
Registration is open on a first-come, first-served basis through the integrated reservation service on the Geumcheon-gu website. Geumcheon-gu residents may apply from 10 a.m. Tuesday, and residents from other areas from 10 a.m. Wednesday. All courses are free, though AI qualification exam fees and AI service usage fees are charged separately.
"We have expanded AI education beyond simply learning about artificial intelligence and coding, to actually applying and creating with it," District Mayor Choi said. "We hope this gives residents the opportunity to build the skills to use future technologies in their daily lives."
