Samsung Card announced Tuesday it had signed an MOU with Korea Expressway Corporation to support local festival safety management and tourism promotion through public-private data collaboration.
The signing ceremony was held at Korea Expressway Corporation's Seoul-Gyeonggi headquarters. Ko Sang-gyeong, senior vice president and head of Samsung Card's Data BIZ division, Jung Young-hee, head of the Seoul-Gyeonggi headquarters, and other officials from both organizations attended.
Under the agreement, the two companies plan to develop a range of collaboration models combining public and private data — specifically, Samsung Card's consumer spending data and Korea Expressway Corporation's rest-stop-based movement data.
The partnership will also introduce a congestion monitoring service for local festival venues, linked to Monimo, Samsung Financial Group's integrated platform.
Local governments will be able to track visitor numbers and congestion levels at festivals, enabling them to establish safety management measures and inform tourism and regional economic development policies.
The two companies also plan to conduct comprehensive analyses of rest-stop visitors' movement and spending patterns, using the findings to deliver personalized customer services and improve rest-stop operational efficiency.
Samsung Card has been building on its data analytics capabilities through a series of cooperative initiatives. The company operates Lifestyle Economy MAP, a regional spending data service within its data analytics platform Samsung Card Data Lab, and has provided data analysis support to help invigorate local festivals. The service offers monthly data on traditional market spending, small business trends, and consumption patterns among youth and senior demographics.
"This agreement is a case of public data and private consumer data coming together to deliver real value in the form of improved customer convenience," a Samsung Card official said. "We will continue to expand our data-sharing collaboration models based on Samsung Card's data analytics capabilities."
