A fire broke out Wednesday at an apartment building in Singil-dong, Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul.
The blaze started around 6:30 a.m. on the fifth floor of a 15-story apartment building near Singil Station in Yeongdeungpo-gu, prompting about 20 residents to evacuate.
Two residents sustained minor injuries, including burns and smoke inhalation, and were taken to a hospital.
Fire authorities deployed 27 pieces of equipment and 88 personnel to fight the blaze.
Yeongdeungpo-gu issued an emergency alert urging drivers to use alternate routes, warning that roads from Singil and Daebang stations toward Daesin Market were congested due to the fire.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined. Fire authorities plan to investigate the circumstances of the blaze and assess property damage once it is fully extinguished.
