Singer Song Ha-ye to marry YouTuber Jo Maeryeok this year: 'A little heaven of a home'

Singer Song Ha-ye, 32, will marry YouTuber and singer Jo Maeryeok, 32, whose real name is Jo Jang-woo, this year.

On Tuesday, Song shared a handwritten letter on her Instagram, announcing, "I met someone who cherishes me just as I am and stands by my side in every moment — and I am getting married this year."

Song opened the letter by saying she wanted to share the most precious and important news of her life with her fans before anyone else. She addressed the letter to her "Kkamae" — the official name of her fandom.

"I have long dreamed of building a home, though at times it also frightened me," she wrote. "I have waited a long time wondering whether I could become someone's wife for life — sharing each other's days up close, laughing together on good days and standing by each other on hard ones, building a little heaven of a home. Now I have found someone I want to make that dream come true with."

Acknowledging that fans might be caught off guard, she added, "This news may come as a surprise, and you might feel a little hurt or have mixed feelings. That is exactly why I wanted to speak to you directly, from my heart."

Song closed the letter with a message to her fans. "I will not forget the love you have given me. I will keep growing as a better person and a better singer, and I will share wonderful music with you for a long time to come. Let's stay together, just like now, for a long time ahead."

Her husband-to-be, Jo Maeryeok, is a content creator with more than 1 million subscribers, producing travel, culture and music content and leading an 18-piece big band project called Annoying Box. The two first crossed paths when Song appeared on Jo's YouTube channel in March.

Song rose to prominence through SBS "K-pop Star Season 2" in 2013 and made her official debut in 2014 with the single "Cheoeumiya." She has since released tracks including "Ni Sosik," "Sae Sarang" and "Say Goodbye," and on Aug. 2 dropped "The Heart Does Not Say Goodbye," the original soundtrack for the drama series "Love on the Menu."
