Gym owner sprays insecticide at building manager old enough to be his father

A gym owner in his 20s sparked public outrage after spraying insecticide at a building manager in his 60s — old enough to be his father — during a dispute over maintenance fees.

On Wednesday, posts and video footage began circulating on Instagram and other SNS platforms, with one person writing that they were coming forward "in tears" to report a horrifying "insecticide attack" on their father.

The author, identified only as A, wrote that their father works as a manager at a commercial building and had been harassed relentlessly for nearly two years by tenants who had long refused to pay their maintenance fees, with the group calling him in the early hours of the morning.

A added that on Thursday, a group stormed the management office, intimidatingly occupied the small space, surrounded the father and subjected him to a brutal attack.

Video footage released alongside the post shows a man holding a can of insecticide and spraying it while threatening A's father, saying "open your mouth," "say 'ah'" and "I'll spray it in your mouth." The man is also reported to have taunted the manager, saying "please hit me — I like getting hit" and "I'm good at fighting, let's go."

As the video spread rapidly online, the gym owner who sprayed the insecticide also released a statement.

B, identified as the gym owner, acknowledged wrongdoing on his SNS account, writing that he recognized "there is no justification for what was shown in the video, for any reason," and offered another apology.

However, B said the maintenance fee dispute had been ongoing for four years, and claimed the incident occurred while he was responding to provocations from a dismissed former management company, whose members had allegedly forced open the building's electrical room in the early morning hours and attempted to illegally cut off the power supply.
