Gangbuk-gu announced it will extend the Gangbuk Route 10 village bus service starting with the first run on Tuesday to improve public transportation access for residents.
Under the adjusted route, the bus will now run from Mia Station Exit 6 through a newly added stop at Suyu Market before terminating at Mia Station Exit 7, extending the previous route that ran directly between the two station exits.
The extension was pursued following sustained requests from residents and an application by the bus operator, and went through the required route-adjustment review process. Before service begins, the district plans to update stop information and operating details and carry out a public awareness campaign to ensure a smooth transition for riders.
The extended route is expected to improve access between Mia Station and Suyu Market, benefiting regular public transit users as well as elderly residents and others who have difficulty getting around on foot.
The easier connection to Suyu Market is also expected to draw more visitors and give the traditional market a boost.
"We will continue to pay close attention to the inconveniences residents face when using public transportation and work to create a more convenient and safer transit environment," Gangbuk-gu District Mayor Jeong Chang-su said.
