Kakao Pay announced Wednesday it has launched a new service called "My Card Money Link," which allows users to connect their existing debit cards to Kakao Pay Money for seamless payments.
The key advantage of My Card Money Link is that users can enjoy the convenience of Kakao Pay Money without having to reissue their debit cards. The service is currently available for Hana Card debit cards, with plans to gradually expand to additional partner card issuers. Through the service, users can charge Kakao Pay Money from any bank account they choose and pay with their existing debit card.
The service also enhances payment reliability and convenience. Users can make payments at any time without being affected by bank maintenance windows that typically restrict late-night transactions. The Kakao Pay Travellog debit card, co-launched with Hana Card, has surpassed 500,000 cumulative issuances, demonstrating strong user demand. The card offers up to 10 percent back in Pay Points when used at domestic merchants.
Kakao Pay is running a launch promotion through the end of this year, offering users who sign up for My Card Money Link and participate in the event an additional 1 percent reward on all payments made through the service.
My Card Money Link is accessible through the Kakao Pay app or the Kakao Pay home screen within KakaoTalk by tapping the magnifying glass icon in the upper right corner and searching for the service name.
"This service allows users to keep their existing payment methods while enjoying the differentiated usability of Kakao Pay Money, which connects to all financial accounts, in their daily lives," Kakao Pay said. "We will continue to expand the connectivity between Kakao Pay Money and various payment methods, and advance our service so users can experience the most flexible and convenient payments anytime, anywhere."
