Seven financial institutions, including Kookmin Bank, ranked among the top seven in foreign exchange trading volume in Seoul over the past year, from July last year through June this year.
According to the Seoul Foreign Exchange Market Committee on Wednesday, Kookmin Bank, Shinhan Bank, Woori Bank, JPMorgan Chase, Hana Bank, BNP Paribas and NH NongHyup Bank all placed in the top seven institutions by total trading volume during the period. The institutions are listed in Korean alphabetical order.
Breaking down the figures by market segment, the top seven in the spot foreign exchange market were Kookmin Bank, Korea Development Bank, Shinhan Bank, Woori Bank, Crédit Agricole, Hana Bank and NH NongHyup Bank. In the foreign exchange swap market, the top seven were Kookmin Bank, Shinhan Bank, Woori Bank, JPMorgan Chase, Hana Bank, Standard Chartered Bank Korea and HSBC Korea.
Among non-bank institutions, Meritz Securities ranked first across all categories.
The Seoul Foreign Exchange Market Committee publishes the top seven institutions by trading volume across each category, covering all 98 participants in the Seoul foreign exchange market, including registered foreign institutions. The rankings are intended to promote trading activity and encourage healthy competition in the market.
