Singer Song Ga-in became a department store VIP buying gifts for others, not splurging on herself

Singer Song Ga-in revealed that she became a department store VIP customer simply by frequently buying gifts for the people around her.

Appearing on MBC's "Playlist 109," a music talk show, on Tuesday, Song explained how she earned VIP status at a department store.

Before Song came on, the show's panelists — Lee Seok-hoon, DinDin and Lee Jun — were given keywords to guess the guest's identity, including "sleepy," "top of the class" and "VIP." When Song appeared, she said, "After things started going well for me, I went to the department store a lot. That's how I became a VIP."

She added, "The reason I went so often was to buy gifts for people who had been kind to me and helped me out during my days as an unknown. I kept going just to buy gifts, and that's how I ended up as a VIP."

DinDin said there had once been a rumor that "if you want to see Song Ga-in, go to the department store." He added that people had assumed she had "started making a lot of money and gotten extravagant," only to find out she was going every time to buy gifts for people she knew.

Song said she had been repaying the kindness of "teachers, friends, her parents' acquaintances and family."
