Seoul Shilla Hotel to host gugak crossover performances at Yeongbingwan for Chuseok

Seoul Shilla Hotel will run its "Heritage Collection — Full Moon" package at the Yeongbingwan banquet hall from Sept. 24 to 26, during the Chuseok holiday, offering guests traditional Korean music alongside a festive dinner. The package includes a room stay, a dinner buffet, a gugak crossover performance, access to Urban Island and valet parking.

Built in 1967 to host major state events, the Yeongbingwan blends traditional architectural beauty with a contemporary sensibility. Seoul Shilla Hotel designed the program to match the venue's symbolic character, bringing together traditional music performances, hansik and the storied hall.

The evening begins with a welcome drink reception, followed by the dinner buffet and then the gugak crossover performance. The band Dubeonjaedal, which fuses gugak with world music, will perform across all three nights. Joining them on stage are vocalist Oh Dan-hae (Sept. 24), a grand-prize winner in the pansori category at the Jeonju Daesaseupnori competition; pansori prodigy Yoo Tae-pyeongyang (Sept. 25); and Kim Jun-su (Sept. 26), winner of the grand prize at the KB Korean Music Awards — each weaving traditional sounds with a modern musical palette.

The dinner buffet will feature a dedicated hansik corner evoking the spirit of Chuseok. The menu includes Yeosu stone octopus and water parsley salad, galbi, steamed abalone and shrimp, and ssambap. Desserts include brown rice macarons and omija macarons. Six beverage pairings — among them champagne, wine and makgeolli — will be available to complement the Korean culinary experience.

"The Yeongbingwan has long welcomed distinguished guests from home and abroad, carrying on a tradition of hospitality," a hotel official said. "We have prepared this event so that guests can experience Korean culture through gugak performances and Chuseok food during the holiday."
