Livestock quality agency partners with Sejong's Geumnam-myeon in rural-urban exchange program

The Korea Institute for Animal Products Quality Evaluation has teamed up with Geumnam-myeon in Sejong to pursue rural-urban cooperation activities, including farm labor support and help expanding sales channels for local agricultural products.

The institute announced Thursday that it signed a "rural-urban cooperation sister-village agreement" with Geumnam-myeon at the Sejong Jochiwon Cultural Workshop on Wednesday.

The agreement is part of a rural-urban cooperation project the institute is pursuing with Sejong. Its aim is to build a sustained exchange framework between public institutions and rural communities, inject vitality into the region and strengthen the foundation for mutual growth.

Under the agreement, the institute and Geumnam-myeon will carry out volunteer activities including farm labor support, operate and promote a direct farm produce market, support rural experience activities, and hold an institutional open-visit day.

Full exchange activities will begin in the second half of this year. The agreement runs for two years from the date of signing. Both sides plan to continuously identify cooperative projects that local residents can tangibly feel, linking the resources and capabilities of each organization so the partnership does not remain a one-time effort.

"We will consistently communicate with the local community and share practical support with the region on the strength of this sister-village agreement," institute President Park Su-jin said. "Going forward, we will continue to put the value of mutual growth into practice through a variety of exchange activities in which our staff directly participate."
