Hear It Straight From College Students: Eunpyeong-gu to Host 13th Major Fair

Eunpyeong-gu in Seoul will host the 13th Eunpyeong Daejeon Major Fair on Sept. 5 at the Eunpyeong Multipurpose Gymnasium to help local youth explore career paths.

"Eunpyeong Daejeon" is short for "the major stories of quietly ordinary college students" — a flagship career-guidance program in which university students share firsthand accounts of their fields of study and career journeys with teenagers. The fair is part of the Eunpyeong Education Cooperation Special District project, a joint initiative with the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education.

The venue will feature 75 consultation and hands-on booths. Major areas include field-specific academic counseling stations covering fourth-industrial-revolution industries, healthcare, arts and physical education, and humanities and business; a career experience zone where professionals such as military officers and traditional Korean medicine doctors take part; and a personal counseling corner where students can discuss their concerns.

About 1,200 students are expected to attend, drawn from 10 general high schools — Daesung, Dongmyeong, Seonil, Seonjeong, Sungsil, Sindo, Yale, Eunpyeong, Jingwan and Chungam — along with vocational high school students and third-year middle school students.

"Young people are facing growing uncertainty about their career choices in a rapidly changing society," Eunpyeong-gu District Mayor Kim Mi-kyung said. "I hope this fair gives teenagers a meaningful opportunity to discover their aptitudes and interests and map out a concrete path forward."
