Family reports missing son working in Jeju; only his vehicle found at port

Police, fire department and military enter second day of search

Police and fire officials are in their second day of searching for a man in his 20s working on Jeju Island after his family reported losing contact with him.

According to the Seogwipo Police Station and the Jeju Island Fire and Safety Headquarters, a report was filed with police at around 2:10 p.m. Friday that a son working on Jeju Island had stopped responding to contact. The vehicle belonging to the missing man, identified only as A, was found near Haye Port in Seogwipo, but he was not present.

Police, fire officials and military personnel launched a search Friday afternoon, deploying drones and conducting foot searches with rescue dogs. The search continued Saturday as authorities investigate the circumstances of his disappearance.
