Man in his 80s arrested for killing wife he cared for over decades

A man in his 80s has been arrested on suspicion of killing his wife, who was in her 70s.

The Namyangju Southern Police Station arrested the man, identified only as A, on murder charges and is investigating his motive, Yonhap reported Saturday.

According to police, a report came in at around 12:15 p.m. Saturday that a woman in her 70s, identified as B, had died at a villa in Hwado-eup, Namyangju.

Officers who responded to the scene found evidence implicating A in the killing and arrested him on the spot.

B had been unable to move or communicate due to a chronic illness, and A is believed to have cared for her for decades.

Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the case.
