TYM donates 15 tractors to National Skills Competition

Agricultural machinery maker TYM said Monday it provided 15 tractors free of charge to the 61st National Skills Competition, held in Incheon from Aug. 22 through Aug. 28.

TYM supplied 15 units of its T3040 tractor model to Jaeneung University's Songdo campus, where the agricultural machinery repair category was held. Competitors were evaluated on their ability to disassemble, inspect, repair and reassemble a working tractor.

TYM also dispatched maintenance supervisors to the venue throughout the competition to inspect and service the equipment. The company additionally provided branded T-shirts to participants.

The agricultural machinery repair category is linked to the national technical qualification for agricultural machinery repair technicians. Top finishers in the category are exempt from the practical examination for the related industrial technician certification.

The competition was jointly hosted by the Ministry of Employment and Labor, the Incheon Metropolitan City government and the Incheon Metropolitan Office of Education, and organized by the Korea Committee for the WorldSkills Competition and the Incheon Skills Competition Committee.

It was the first time Incheon had hosted the national competition since 2010, a gap of 16 years. A total of 1,677 competitors took part across 51 categories at six venues in the city, including Songdo Convensia and Jaeneung University's Songdo campus.

"We provided equipment so that competitors aspiring to become skilled technicians could demonstrate their abilities in a real-world environment," a TYM official said. "We will continue to support the development of technical talent in the industry."
