Kim Seung-won, nominee for justice minister, arrived Monday morning at his confirmation hearing preparation office in the Jeokseon Hyundai Building in Jongno-gu, Seoul, with his head bowed. Kim faces allegations that in 2021 he lobbied the then-head of the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, at the request of a broker surnamed Yang, to approve clinical trials of a COVID-19 treatment developed by pharmaceutical company Genesell.
