Deputy PM nominee visits traditional market, vows additional chuseok relief measures this week

Lee Hyeong-il, nominee for deputy prime minister and minister of the Ministry of Economy and Finance — currently the ministry's first vice minister — said Monday that the government would finalize and announce additional chuseok relief measures this week, including discounts on farm, livestock and fishery products and an expanded seafood supply.

Lee made the remarks during a visit to Kkachisan Market, a traditional market in Gangseo-gu, Seoul, where he inspected the supply and demand of chuseok seasonal goods and reviewed the implementation of the chuseok livelihood stabilization measures announced Tuesday. "The government will do its utmost to ease the burden on household grocery prices through expanded supply and discount support for chuseok seasonal goods," he said.

Earlier that day, Lee visited the Digital Education Center of the Korea Federation of Micro Enterprise in Mapo-gu, Seoul, where he held a roundtable with small business owners.

"Stabilizing the management of small businesses and supporting their growth are essential to easing economic polarization," Lee said. "We will make every policy effort to ensure that the warmth of growth reaches every small business owner."
