Top honors in Gyeonggi education training evaluation — 4 consecutive years
"Selected as the top institution in Gyeonggi Province's education and training evaluation — four consecutive years of recognition is the result of steady growth."
Uiwang Mayor Kim Seong-je posted those words on his SNS account Monday, saying he wanted to share good news with residents.
Uiwang city was named the top institution in the 2025 Gyeonggi Province Municipal Education and Training Evaluation. The recognition marks four consecutive years of awards — an encouragement prize in 2022, excellence awards in 2023 and 2024, and this year's top honor.
The evaluation, conducted by Gyeonggi Province, assesses the education and training performance and best practices of all 31 cities and counties in the province. A first-round written review narrows the field to the top 10, after which a second-round presentation of best practices determines the final rankings.
Uiwang city earned high marks this year by presenting its "Uiwang-style 3-Track Education" program, built around three pillars: work innovation, organizational integration and employee growth.
Under the work-innovation track, the city offered generative AI training and skills-development courses for technical civil servants, strengthening employees' practical capabilities and preparing them to adapt to a rapidly changing administrative environment.
The organizational-integration track featured an all-staff unity camp and a new-employee orientation program called "Smart Life in Uiwang," designed to improve communication across generations and help new hires settle into the organization.
The employee-growth track supported individual development through lectures by prominent figures and tailored capacity-building projects, giving each staff member the tools to grow on their own terms.
The city said these efforts have helped narrow the gap in AI proficiency among employees, strengthened digital and job-specific competencies, and fostered a more dynamic organizational culture grounded in cross-generational understanding and communication.
"What makes this award particularly meaningful is that it is not a one-time achievement but the result of consistent change and effort," Mayor Kim said. "Four consecutive years of recognition reflect Uiwang city's ongoing work to improve its employee training system and drive change and growth within the public sector."
Kim went on to say that an employee's growth becomes the organization's strength, and that strength must ultimately translate into better administrative services for residents. He pledged to continuously identify the training employees need to keep pace with a fast-changing administrative environment and to raise the expertise and job competency of each individual staff member.
"We will do our utmost to ensure that this change and growth leads to better administrative services that residents can feel directly," Kim said. "We will keep learning and evolving, and build a Uiwang city that works ever harder for its people."
