Nowon-gu District Mayor Seo Jun-o attended the 27th Social Welfare Day ceremony Monday afternoon at the main auditorium on the second floor of the Nowon-gu district office, where he recognized the dedication of social welfare workers.
Social Welfare Day is observed every Sept. 7 to raise public awareness of social welfare and honor those who devote themselves to improving community well-being. About 200 people attended the ceremony, including award recipients and representatives of social welfare facilities.
The event opened with a congratulatory performance by the Golfzon Pastel Choir, followed by a screening of an animated film highlighting social welfare activities and a commendation ceremony for meritorious contributors to community welfare. A special performance by Nowon-gu welfare workers themselves rounded out the program.
District Mayor Seo presented commendations to individuals recognized for their contributions to community welfare and expressed gratitude to social welfare workers who have served as a steady support for residents in the field.
"I am deeply grateful to the social welfare workers on the front lines who work so hard for their neighbors," Seo said. "I will listen more closely to voices from the field and work to make Nowon a warm welfare city that everyone can lean on."
