Visits Chuseok Direct Marketplace and Volunteer Festival
Gangseo-gu District Mayor Jin Kyo-hoon visited the "Chuseok Sister City Direct Marketplace" and the "Volunteer Festival" held around Magok Plaza on Tuesday.
Jin visited each vendor booth at the marketplace, exchanging Chuseok greetings with merchants and residents who came to shop. He purchased rice cakes, homemade fruit syrup and fried seaweed snacks, and took part in pounding rice cakes to help promote the marketplace.
The direct marketplace runs through Wednesday around Magok Plaza. Visitors can buy a variety of local agricultural and specialty products from 15 local governments, including Imsil-gun, Sangju and Yeosu.
Jin then moved to the venue of the first Volunteer Festival to continue engaging with residents on-site. He stopped by every booth to greet volunteers and took part in a "disaster food experience: making rice balls" event hosted by the Gangseo-gu chapter of the Korean Red Cross volunteer corps.
As this year marks the event's first run, Jin also closely checked on its operations and on-site safety measures.
"Since the venue is close to Magok Naru Station and sees heavy foot traffic, and two events are being held simultaneously in adjacent locations, please pay special attention to the safety and convenience of visitors," Jin said.
