Enjoy autumn nights with Friday beer bashes: Seocho-gu throws 'Adults-Only Mystery Party'

Seoul's Seocho-gu will host the "19-Plus Mystery Party" on three Fridays — Sept. 11, Sept. 18 and Oct. 2 — from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Jangwon Hagil, a commercial street in Jangwon-dong.

The event, open only to adults 19 and older, is a Friday-night beer party held along the Jangwon Hagil commercial strip between Sinsa and Nonhyeon stations. Designed to encourage visitors to patronize nearby shops and restaurants while enjoying beer, live performances and food, the festival was launched in 2024 to revitalize the Jangwon-dong commercial district and boost its brand recognition.

During the event, anyone who presents a receipt showing a purchase of 10,000 won ($7) or more from a business along Jangwon Hagil can enjoy unlimited beer. The festival will also feature a variety of food offerings, DJ performances and recreational games. After last year's edition drew a satisfaction rating of more than 95 percent, organizers have expanded this year's outdoor spaces, performances and food programs based on visitor feedback.

Organizers are adding 20 outdoor tables, each seating four people. Ten of those tables will be set up in Ssarijae Park with camping chairs, creating an open-air beer garden atmosphere for festivalgoers. The DJ party, which proved popular with visitors, will expand from one performance to two, with the second show running until the event's 9 p.m. close to cap off the night.

Food offerings will also be enhanced, with seven booths showcasing the culinary character of the Jangwon Hagil district, giving visitors a range of options to pair with their unlimited beer.

Visitors who verify their purchase receipts and take part in the recreational games will also receive discount coupons redeemable at businesses in the Jangwon-dong commercial district, encouraging further local spending.

"The '19-Plus Mystery Party,' now in its third year, is establishing itself as a signature festival of Jangwon Hagil," said Seocho-gu District Mayor Jeon Seong-su. "I hope visitors will once again enjoy the festival with their partners, friends and colleagues, and create special autumn-night memories at Jangwon Hagil."
