Customized events for every generation unfold Saturday at Yeongdeungpo Park and Munnae Neighborhood Park — Yeongdeungpo Park's 'Play Market' features urban horseback riding, rides and some 20 hands-on booths
Yeongdeungpo-gu will hold back-to-back, generation-specific festivals at Yeongdeungpo Park and Munnae Neighborhood Park on Saturday, running from daytime into the night so residents of every age can take part.
The festivals aim to uphold children's and families' right to play and strengthen family communication, while giving young people a boost of energy and small business owners new sales opportunities. By packing generation-specific programming into a single day, the district hopes all residents can enjoy culture and rest close to home.
From 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Yeongdeungpo Park will host the "2026 Yeongdeungpo Children and Family Festival: Yeongdeungpo Play Market," a family-friendly event designed to uphold children's right to play and foster family communication. The festival offers a rich lineup of attractions, including magic and bubble shows, performances by the district's children's choir and youth club groups, and pop opera. Particularly notable is an urban horseback-riding experience run in partnership with the Korea Racing Authority, alongside rides such as a Viking ship and a mini train.
Some 20 varied hands-on booths round out the lineup, giving children a special day to remember.
From 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., as the sun sets, Munnae Neighborhood Park will host the "2026 Yeongdeungpo Youth Night Market," marking Youth Day. The event is meant to energize young people worn down by academic and job-hunting stress and to support sales channels for local young entrepreneurs. It will feature 13 youth market booths selling handicrafts and ready-to-eat foods, along with booths run by youth clubs.
The festival will also include an "arcade zone" open to everyone, a nonalcoholic cocktail experience, and a "policy information booth" offering tailored policy guidance. In addition, eight food trucks and a 140-seat dining area will offer a relaxing, autumn-night atmosphere.
The district plans to station safety personnel throughout the venue on the day of the event and will carry out advance safety inspections and set up an emergency medical support system so visitors can enjoy the festivities with peace of mind.
"We have carefully prepared so that all residents can fully enjoy culture and rest in their daily lives on Saturday," said Yeongdeungpo-gu District Mayor Cho Yoo-jin. "We will continue to offer diverse programs so residents can enjoy high-quality cultural services going forward."
