From Commercial Banks to Simple-Payment Apps, a Full Range of Payment Channels Available... Sign Up for E-delivery and Automatic Payment for Up to 1,600 Won ($1.15) Tax Deduction
Jongno-gu has sent out its 2026 regular property tax bills and is encouraging residents to pay conveniently.
The tax being levied this time covers housing (second installment) and land. It applies to whoever, in effect, owned the property as of June 1 this year, the standard tax assessment date.
The legal payment period runs from Monday to Sept. 30. Taxpayers who fail to pay within this period will face a 3 percent delinquency surcharge, so extra caution is advised.
Payments can be made at commercial banks nationwide, as well as at unmanned kiosks and cash withdrawal machines (CD/ATM).
For those unable to visit in person, payments can also be made conveniently from home through the Seoul Metropolitan Government's tax payment system (ETAX), its tax payment app (STAX), simple-payment apps such as Kakao Pay, Naver Pay and Toss Pay, ARS phone service, or direct account transfer.
There are also tax-saving tips worth noting. Signing up in advance for e-delivery and automatic payment can bring a deduction of up to 1,600 won ($1.15) per bill, while applying for each of the two separately brings an 800 won deduction each. Applications can be made through the Seoul Metropolitan Government's tax payment system (ETAX, STAX).
Those who have lost their bill or need a reissue can visit the district office's Property Tax Division or their local community service center. Further details are available from the Property Tax Division's Property Team 1.
Jongno-gu District Mayor Yu Chan-jong said, "We will strive to ensure that not a single won of these valuable taxes is wasted, and that they are used meaningfully to improve residents' quality of life."
