Spends five days at Yangon's Takeda Education Center
Builds youth vocational training space, rest facility
Paints building interior, exterior and adds murals
LG Electronics' Life's Good volunteer corps, made up of the company's employees, began five days of volunteer work at the Takeda Education Center in Yangon, Myanmar, on Monday.
The Takeda Education Center runs education programs and community development projects for low-income youth. LG Electronics sent its employees to volunteer there for a second consecutive year, following last year's visit.
The Life's Good volunteers built a vocational training space and a rest facility for young people in the center's new building. Volunteers had also taken part in construction on the same building last year. This year's group is painting the building's interior and exterior, creating murals and building an outer wall.
About 30 employees joined this year's volunteer corps, ranging from those who regularly take part in home-repair volunteer work to employees with backgrounds such as winning mural competitions and running YouTube channels. Four university students selected through LG Electronics' ESG Academy, an extracurricular program for college students, also took part.
The volunteers plan to put together 400 kits of daily necessities, including rice and toothpaste, for distribution to nearby low-income families.
LG Electronics has run an overseas employee volunteering program since 2019, focusing on emerging countries in Asia and working alongside employees of its local corporations there.
The Life's Good volunteer corps received a presidential citation at the 2025 Korea Volunteer Awards last year, in recognition of its work supporting communities and underserved groups and spreading positive social impact.
Ahead of the Chuseok holiday this month, the volunteers also plan to share warmth with neighbors at home in Korea.
"We are continuing a range of social contribution activities at home and abroad, driven by our employees' voluntary participation," said Yoon Dae-sik, executive vice president of external cooperation at LG Electronics. "We will keep growing together with local communities and lend our support wherever it is needed."
