Mobile mayor's office in Yangjeong-dong hears local concerns, daily complaints
Namyangju Mayor Choi Hyun-duk visited the 73rd Division on Tuesday, encouraging troops and thanking them for their continued community service.
"I am grateful for the efforts of our service members, who quietly carry out their duties for regional security," Choi said. "We will continue to communicate and cooperate so that the military and the local community can grow together."
He then held a program called "Let's Meet the Mayor" at the on-site mayor's office in Yangjeong-dong, where he listened to residents' opinions on local issues and everyday inconveniences.
That day, residents raised concerns across areas including roads and transportation, welfare, the environment and public safety, sharing a range of opinions aimed at improving living conditions and advancing regional development.
In response, Mayor Choi asked relevant departments to closely examine local issues in order to minimize inconvenience for residents of Yangjeong-dong, where large-scale development is currently underway.
"Yangjeong-dong is now at the center of the biggest changes taking place in Namyangju," Choi said. "Residents' lives matter just as much as the pace of development. We will go through each of the opinions we heard Wednesday one by one to reduce everyday inconveniences and make sure the changes in the area benefit residents."
That morning, Choi visited the site of the Yangjeong Station-area complex development project and the Ipae transfer station, checking on the progress of the project and the operation of the facilities.
