PPS awards G-PASS designation to 55 companies

Companies with promising prospects in the global procurement market — including those entering UN contracts and providing humanitarian aid to Ukraine and elsewhere — received G-PASS designation certificates, which come with a range of benefits.

The Public Procurement Service held the "2026 third-quarter designation ceremony for promising overseas procurement market entrants," known as G-PASS, on Wednesday at the Seoul Regional Public Procurement Service office in Seocho-gu, Seoul.

G-PASS designation identifies outstanding companies with strong quality and technological capabilities and supports their entry into the global procurement market. The Public Procurement Service has used the G-PASS designation since 2013 to help Korean companies establish a foothold in overseas procurement markets.

A total of 55 companies received G-PASS designation in the third quarter, comprising 34 newly designated firms and 21 redesignated firms. The pass rate for new designations this quarter stood at about 52 percent.

Among the newly designated companies were several with strong export track records, including Booyoung Industries Co., which exports PE tarpaulins to the UN and other markets worldwide, and Energen Co., which completed delivery of diesel generators to Ukraine through an official development assistance project.

Companies designated as G-PASS firms gain access to a range of support benefits aimed at helping them enter the global procurement market. These include customized vouchers tailored to global procurement market entry. They also gain access to support projects, such as consultations with overseas buyers and market exploration missions, that draw on the Public Procurement Service's global network.

Companies newly designated as G-PASS firms this year will receive additional support starting next year through the "intensive support project for promising companies." The program includes training to strengthen capabilities for overseas procurement markets, buyer matching and consultations, and ongoing assistance in resolving export-related difficulties.

Meanwhile, the Public Procurement Service plans to improve the G-PASS designation system going forward. It aims to expand the fast-track designation review process for outstanding exporting companies. The agency also plans to promote the designation of AI technology firms and regional companies with promising overseas prospects, among other efforts to identify a wider range of companies.

"With annual exports on the verge of reaching the $1 trillion mark, diversifying export markets is a challenge we must address," said Baek Seung-bo, commissioner of the Public Procurement Service. "We will continue to provide strategic and systematic support, drawing on the agency's expertise, so that procurement companies with excellent technology and quality can also become competitive in overseas public procurement markets."
