Parata Airlines to fly 1,000 Gangwon athletes to Jeju for national sports festivals

Parata Airlines announced Wednesday that it will support air travel for Gangwon Province's athletic delegation competing in the National Sports Festival and the National Sports Festival for the Disabled, both held in Jeju.

Parata Airlines will support travel to Jeju for Gangwon Province's delegation competing in the 107th National Sports Festival and the 46th National Sports Festival for the Disabled. The airline began transporting the delegation for the National Sports Festival for the Disabled on Wednesday, and will start transporting the National Sports Festival delegation on Monday.

The 46th National Sports Festival for the Disabled will take place across Jeju from Sept. 11 to 16, while the 107th National Sports Festival will run there from Oct. 16 to 22.

To ensure smooth travel for athletes competing in both events, Parata Airlines will assist with flight bookings and ticketing, and provide extra baggage allowances so athletes can more easily transport event-specific equipment and training gear.

The airline has particularly strengthened on-site support to make air travel more convenient for athletes competing in the National Sports Festival for the Disabled. Parata Airlines' Jeju branch has prepared additional equipment to minimize inconvenience during boarding and deplaning for athletes with disabilities, part of broader efforts to improve travel convenience.

Through this support, Parata Airlines aims to reduce the time and fatigue involved in the delegation's travel, helping athletes maintain their condition and focus on competition.

A Parata Airlines official said, "The greatest significance of this support is helping Gangwon athletes, who have long prepared for these competitions, avoid unnecessary physical strain during travel so they can compete in their best condition." The official added, "We will continue to pursue various activities that allow us to work closely with and make a real contribution to the local community."

Meanwhile, Parata Airlines has ranked first among South Korea's national carriers in cumulative on-time performance from January through July this year. According to official statistics from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, Parata Airlines' cumulative on-time rate for the January-July period of 2026 stood at 89.4 percent, 5.9 percentage points higher than the average for national carriers over the same period.
