Jungnang-gu opens barrier-free media exhibition for everyone

Jungnang-gu will hold a barrier-free media exhibition titled "Banjjak Kkamppak Sareureu" at Jungnang Arts Center, operated by the Jungnang Culture Foundation, through July 3 next year.

The exhibition was selected for the Korea Disabled Culture and Arts Institute's "2026 Barrier-Free Cultural Enjoyment Promotion Support Project."

Designed to create a cultural environment where anyone can enjoy art together regardless of disability, the exhibition features works by artists Kim Kim Lab and Cho Se-min. The two artists use media, installation and design across a range of formats. Centered on pop art-based interactive media pieces, the show offers visitors a new kind of exhibition experience built around direct participation and communication.

The Jungnang Culture Foundation signed MOUs with the Shinsegae Jungnang Center for Independent Living for the Disabled and the Jungnang-gu Sign Language Interpretation Center. The agreements are aimed at expanding opportunities for people with disabilities to take part in cultural and artistic activities and improving accessibility to the exhibition.

With the Shinsegae Jungnang Center for Independent Living for the Disabled, the foundation will run a collaborative project with artists who have developmental disabilities. The foundation will create media art works using original drawings by participants in the center's art program, "Bal-Ja-Chwi Project," supporting the creative activities and cultural participation of artists with disabilities. Through this participatory exhibition, created together with the local community, the foundation aims to convey the value of arts and culture that everyone can share.

With the Jungnang-gu Sign Language Interpretation Center, the foundation will provide sign language interpretation for exhibition commentary and related programs, supporting a comfortable viewing experience for hearing-impaired visitors and others.

Alongside this, the exhibition hall will offer a range of accessibility services, including braille guides, audio commentary, easy-to-read content and tactile materials. The foundation will run the exhibition so that anyone — including people with disabilities, children and older adults — can view it comfortably.

The exhibition takes place in the immersive media exhibition room at Jungnang Arts Center. Admission is free, and the exhibition is open from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday. It is closed on Sundays, Mondays and public holidays.

"This exhibition is a special outcome prepared in cooperation with several institutions so that everyone can enjoy art regardless of disability," said Jungnang-gu District Mayor Ryu Kyung-ki. "We will continue to expand cultural and artistic services open to everyone going forward."
