SH donates W50m for flood recovery in South Gyeongsang Province

Seoul Housing & Communities Corporation said Wednesday that it has donated funds to support victims of heavy rains in South Gyeongsang Province and to aid regional recovery efforts.

At a donation ceremony held that morning at SH's headquarters, SH President Hwang Sang-ha presented the Hope Bridge National Disaster Relief Association with 50 million won ($37,300) in company funds. He also delivered an additional 3.37 million won raised by SH employees and executives.

SH has consistently donated to disaster relief efforts over the years. It began with support for wildfire damage in Gangwon Province in 2019, followed by contributions after wildfires in North Gyeongsang Province and Gangwon Province in 2022. It also donated after wildfires in North Gyeongsang Province and Ulsan in 2025, and after a factory fire in Daejeon in 2026. Its cumulative donations to Hope Bridge now total about 175 million won.

"I hope this can offer even a small measure of strength to the residents who have suddenly lost their homes and are struggling because of the heavy rains," Hwang said. "We will continue to fulfill our responsibility as a public corporation that helps neighbors affected by disasters quickly return to normal life and grows together with local communities."

Meanwhile, a record-breaking downpour of up to 900 millimeters struck the Tongyeong and Geoje areas of South Gyeongsang Province from Aug. 15 to Aug. 18. A joint investigation by the central government found that the damage in Geoje and Tongyeong amounted to about 85.7 billion won. In the wake of the disaster, relief efforts have been pouring in from across the country to support the affected areas.
