Hankook's Laufenn supplies S Fit 2 tires for Seat Leon

Hankook Tire & Technology said Thursday that its global brand Laufenn will supply the second-generation summer performance tire S Fit 2 as an original equipment tire for the Seat Leon. Seat is a brand under Europe's Volkswagen Group, and the Leon is one of its core models.

The Leon is the flagship compact model of Spanish automaker Seat. Offered in two body types — the five-door hatchback Leon and the wagon-style Leon Sport Tourer — the model has maintained steady popularity in Europe and other global markets thanks to its spacious interior and wide range of powertrain options.

Supplied in 205/55R16 and 225/40R18 sizes, the Laufenn S Fit 2 combines stable braking and handling performance with strong mileage, according to the company.

The S Fit 2 is a second-generation summer performance tire developed to perform across a range of climates and road conditions. By applying a high-silica compound and a precisely designed tread block, the tire cuts wet-road braking distance by about 16 percent compared with its predecessor. Four wide, straight grooves enhance drainage, delivering stable driving performance even in rain.

The tire's optimized structural design also maintains stable grip and handling on hot asphalt surfaces. In addition, it reduces vibration and noise generated while driving for a more comfortable ride. A next-generation polymer compound also improves mileage by about 15 percent compared with the previous product.

Laufenn is a global brand that was first unveiled at the SEMA Show in the United States in 2014. Backed by Hankook's technology and quality systems, the brand has pursued continuous innovation over the past decade or so to expand its presence in global markets. Laufenn has built a diverse product lineup spanning sedans, SUVs and trucks and buses that reflects drivers' varied driving environments and lifestyles, offering global consumers a wide range of choices.

This year, Laufenn has supplied original equipment tires for major Volkswagen Group models including the new Octavia, the Volkswagen Golf and Polo, and the Seat Ibiza and Arona.

Meanwhile, Hankook Tire & Technology has been expanding its engagement with global customers through various marketing activities. These include supplying tires for the 2026 World Rally Championship, the top-tier motorsport competition organized by the International Automobile Federation, or FIA.
