Ex-Big Bang member Seungri accused of aggravated assault, faces investigation

Seungri, a former member of boy band Big Bang whose real name is Lee Seung-hyun, has been accused of aggravated assault.

The Gangnam Police Station in Seoul received a complaint on Aug. 25 seeking punishment against Lee on charges of aggravated assault, according to Yonhap.

A police official said the complainant has not yet been questioned and declined to confirm further details of the case.

Police plan to investigate the specifics of the case.

Lee announced his retirement from the entertainment industry and left Big Bang after being implicated in the Burning Sun scandal in March 2019. He was later indicted on nine charges, including arranging prostitution and habitual gambling, and the Supreme Court finalized a sentence of one year and six months in prison in May 2022. He completed his sentence and was released in February 2023.
