Yoon Yu-jin named auditor of Seoul council-press research society

Seoul City Council member Yoon Yu-jin (People Power Party, Songpa 1) has been appointed auditor of the Seoul Council-Press Research Society. The society is chaired by Byun Jae-woon, with Oh Joong-seok serving as honorary chairman.

The society held its launch ceremony and first policy meeting Thursday at Meeting Room No. 1 in the Seoul Metropolitan Council members' office building. There, it presented Yoon with her appointment certificate as auditor.

The society is a policy platform launched to channel citizens' voices into Seoul's municipal administration and council activities. Building on cooperation among the council, the press and civil society, it plans to conduct policy research and polling, and evaluate council activities. It will also identify exemplary policy cases and build expert networks across various fields.

As auditor, Yoon will oversee the society's overall operations and check whether its major projects are carried out in line with its founding purpose and operating principles. She will particularly focus on enhancing the objectivity and transparency of its policy research and council activity evaluations, grounded in political neutrality and fairness.

The society plans to hold regular policy meetings on issues closely tied to citizens' daily lives, including housing, transportation, safety, welfare, education, culture and the environment. It also intends to propose effective policy alternatives to the Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Seoul Metropolitan Council based on on-site feedback and research findings.

"I will carefully monitor the transparency and fairness of the society's operations so that citizens' voices are faithfully reflected in council activities and policy," Yoon said, adding, "I will help bring together the council, the press, experts and citizens to discuss Seoul's issues and find practical solutions."
