Foreign worker missing off Incheon coast, Coast Guard launches search

The Coast Guard has launched a search operation after a foreign worker in his 20s went missing at a laver farm off the coast of Incheon.

According to the Incheon Coast Guard on Friday, a report came in at 7:52 a.m. Thursday that an Indonesian man in his 20s, identified only as A, had gone missing at a laver farm near Simnipo Beach in Yeongheung-myeon, Ongjin-gun.

A was reportedly removing mussels from the farm's management boat before he disappeared.

The Coast Guard deployed four patrol boats and other vessels to search the nearby waters, but had not found A as of Friday morning.

"We also carried out a search on land but were unable to find him," a Coast Guard official said. "We plan to continue the search today."
