Sept. 17-18 at Yangcheon Park, 79 companies from 43 local governments nationwide take part — free delivery, 1-hour free parking and self-packing booths boost holiday shopping convenience
Yangcheon-gu will hold the "2026 Chuseok Direct Trade Market," bringing together prized local specialty products from across the country, at Yangcheon Park from Sept. 17-18.
The direct trade market will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on both days. This year, 79 companies from 43 local governments nationwide will take part, offering residents shopping for the holiday a wide range of food items at reasonable prices. These include high-quality agricultural, fishery and livestock products, seasonal fruits and regional specialties.
The district selected participants mainly from companies recommended by its sister cities and partner regions, and coordinated the items on sale to avoid overlap between vendors, giving residents a wider range of shopping options.
Visitors can find an especially wide variety of flagship products reflecting each region's character. Wando-gun, Hongcheon-gun and Ganghwa-gun — all sister cities of Yangcheon-gu — will offer laver, seaweed and anchovies; honey, fermented soybean paste and deodeok root; and turnip kimchi and ginger tea concentrate, respectively. This year's market will also feature new items such as halloumi cheese and river snails alongside the usual seasonal fruits, seafood and fermented sauces. The added variety promises an even richer Chuseok shopping experience.
The district has also arranged convenience services for residents shopping for the holiday. It will offer same-day free delivery within Yangcheon-gu so customers can have their purchases sent home. It will also provide buyers with a one-hour free parking voucher for the public roadside parking lot in front of the venue.
A self-packing booth equipped with boxes and other packing materials will also be available so shoppers can pack their purchases themselves.
The direct trade market will continue its tradition of neighborhood sharing. Participating companies voluntarily donate up to 5 percent of their sales revenue in cash or goods, which are then delivered to needy residents in the district through the Yangcheon Love Welfare Foundation. Since 2023, voluntary donations from participating companies have totaled 31.5 million won ($23,500), including 3.91 million won donated at last year's Chuseok market alone. The contributions continue a tradition of warm sharing at the holiday market.
"As the burden of grocery prices grows heavier ahead of Chuseok, we have set up this direct trade market so residents can find quality agricultural, fishery and livestock products and specialties from across the country at reasonable prices," Yangcheon-gu District Mayor Lee Ki-jae said. "I hope residents will do their holiday shopping affordably at nearby Yangcheon Park and prepare for a bountiful, warm Chuseok with their families."
