Trinity Airways marks 2nd anniversary of Incheon-Barcelona route, tops 160,000 passengers

Trinity Airways said Friday that its Incheon-Barcelona route has marked its second anniversary.

Since launching in September 2024, the route has operated 392 round-trip flights over the past two years, carrying an accumulated total of about 160,000 passengers.

Spain has emerged as a premier destination for South Korean travelers, ranking first in satisfaction in a survey by travel research firm Consumer Insight last year. Passengers on the route break down by nationality as follows: South Korea (78%), Spain (9%), Japan (4%), China (1%) and other nationalities (8%).

By age group, in line with travel trends favoring food, architecture and relaxation, passengers in their 20s (25%) and 30s (29%) made up more than half of the total. They were followed by travelers in their 50s (16%), 40s (11%), 60s (10%) and other age groups (9%). The figures reflect steady demand from young independent travelers as well as package and family trips among middle-aged and older travelers.

The route has also served as a logistics hub for southern Europe. Using "belly cargo" -- cargo carried in the lower holds of wide-body aircraft -- Trinity Airways transported about 4,000 tons of import and export cargo over the past two years. Relying on unit load devices, the airline has steadily carried high-value consumer goods such as K-beauty products along with industrial equipment and auto parts, securing stable profitability.

The Incheon-Barcelona route currently operates four times a week, on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Outbound flights depart Incheon International Airport at 11:05 a.m. and arrive at Barcelona-El Prat Airport at 7 p.m. local time, while return flights depart Barcelona at 9 p.m. and arrive at Incheon International Airport at 4:25 p.m. the following day.

The wide-body aircraft deployed on the route feature business-class seats that recline into fully flat beds at 180 degrees, adding comfort on the long-haul flight. All passengers also receive two complimentary in-flight meals per one-way trip.

"Our Barcelona route, which has received much love from South Korean travelers, continues to grow steadily thanks to reasonable fares and service," a Trinity Airways official said. "Going forward, we will keep safety our top priority and work with Sono Trinity Group to enhance customer convenience and deliver a comfortable flying experience."

Meanwhile, on Thursday, Trinity Airways began operating flights under its new name. The first flights included domestic route TW801 from Daegu to Jeju, departing at 6:10 a.m., and international route TW237 from Incheon to Narita, departing at 6:55 a.m.
