Park Jae-jung, Snacktown and more: Gwangjin-gu launches 'Cheongjun Daero' youth culture festival

Gwangjin-gu in Seoul will host "Cheongjun Daero," a youth culture and arts festival for young residents and the broader community, on Sept. 19 around Children's Grand Park.

The festival is centered on Neungdong-ro and the Children's Grand Park area — the heart of Gwangjin-gu's youth culture scene — and is designed to give young people a chance to participate directly and enjoy a wide range of cultural and artistic programming.

The event kicks off at the main gate of Children's Grand Park with a street parade led by Turbeollim, a performance club from Sejong University, marching to the open-air stage. There, student clubs from Konkuk University and Sejong University will take the stage with performances spanning band music, R&B, ballads and cheerleading.

A talk concert featuring Snacktown, a comedy creator group popular among young audiences, will also be held. The interactive program invites performers and audience members to freely discuss everyday life and topics of interest to young people.

A "youth busking" segment will showcase bands, dance acts, vocalists and magic performances by young and indie artists. At the UN Peace Garden within the park, a "cops and robbers" club activity open to university students and on-site participants will also run throughout the day.

Flea market stalls run by university students and young entrepreneurs, along with district government information and experience booths, will be set up across the venue. Hands-on activities include snow globe making, leather crafts, Shrinky Dinks keyrings and personal color consultations, while the district booth will offer local government information and interactive events.

The festival's headline act is a mini-concert by singer Park Jae-jung. Known for his expressive vocals and strong singing ability, Park will perform his signature songs alongside crowd favorites to close out the day.

Gwangjin-gu District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho said he hopes Cheongjun Daero will be a festival where young people participate firsthand, enjoy culture and mingle with local residents. "From university club performances and busking to hands-on activities, a flea market and a Park Jae-jung mini-concert, we have prepared a diverse lineup," he said. "We look forward to welcoming many young people and residents for a great time."
