Yongsan-gu District Mayor Visits Free Medical Volunteer Event for Seniors, Encourages Volunteers

Yongsan-gu District Mayor Kim Kyung-dae visited a free medical volunteer service for senior citizens participating in an elderly employment program on Saturday, encouraging medical staff and volunteers at the event held at the Korea Senior Citizens Association's Yongsan-gu chapter hall at 58 Imjeong-ro.

The event, organized by the Yongsan-gu Volunteer Center, was designed to support the health of elderly residents who have long contributed to the local community and to share the value of volunteerism. Medical staff and officials from the National Hospital Buddhist Association took part, providing basic health checkups, medical consultations and health counseling for attendees.

Services included blood pressure and blood sugar tests, internal medicine consultations and health counseling. Nutritional IV drips, blood pressure and diabetes medications, and pain-relief patches were also distributed. Medical staff and volunteers attended carefully to the health of each senior, offering warm care throughout the venue.

Kim toured the event hall, checking on the health of the seniors and the progress of medical services. He met with medical staff and volunteers on site to express his gratitude and encouraged those working to care for the elderly residents. He also greeted participating seniors and reviewed the overall operation of the event.

"The seniors who have devoted themselves to this community throughout Yongsan are the driving force behind what Yongsan is today and a pillar of strength for us all," Kim said. "I am deeply grateful to the medical staff and volunteers who gave up their precious weekend to offer this warm act of sharing." He added that he hoped the seniors would enjoy healthier and happier daily lives going forward.

The Yongsan-gu Volunteer Center plans to hold another free medical volunteer service for seniors in November.
