Daewoo Engineering & Construction holds family festival with over 2,000 employees and their families

Daewoo Engineering & Construction announced Monday that it co-hosted the "2026 Labor-Management Joint Family Love Festival" with Yeoncheon-gun on Saturday, drawing more than 2,000 employees and their families to the Jeongok-ri prehistoric site and the Hantan River tourism area in Yeoncheon-gun.

The event was designed to foster communication and unity among employees and their families, deepening their pride and sense of belonging as members of the "Daewoo family." The company's labor union had proposed a company-wide family invitation event in June to carry on Daewoo Engineering & Construction's family-friendly corporate culture, and management agreed with the goals of boosting morale and strengthening a sense of belonging, with both sides joining forces to organize the festival.

To ensure a comfortable stay for attending families, labor and management rented out the entire Hantan River Auto Camping Site near the venue and offered a two-night, three-day lodging program from Friday through Sunday. Participants had access to caravans, cabin houses and auto-camping sites, and families without camping gear could borrow tents, cookware, camp stoves and other equipment.

Yeoncheon-gun, where the festival was held, is rich in historical, cultural and natural attractions — including Jaein Falls, known for its basalt columnar joints; the Jeongok-ri prehistoric site, a center of Paleolithic culture; Horogoru, a Goguryeo-era historical fortress; and Daeopsari Park, celebrated for its vivid red autumn scenery.

On the day of the festival, participants kicked off with a walking program through the Jeongok-ri prehistoric site and along the Hantan River, then took part in a range of activities reflecting the site's historical character, including Paleolithic costume experiences and barbecue sessions.

The event also highlighted the company's commitment to supporting local communities. Yeoncheon-gun set up a market selling local agricultural and specialty products so participants could purchase regional goods directly, while Daewoo Engineering & Construction served abalone dishes — including butter-grilled abalone and abalone cold soup — made with abalone shipped directly from Wando that day, in a show of support for abalone farmers struggling with sluggish consumption and falling prices.

"This family festival was a meaningful event that gave employees' families unforgettable memories while also allowing labor and management to build a family-friendly culture together and contribute to the local community," a company official said. "We will continue to expand programs that employees' families can participate in and sustain our cooperation with Yeoncheon-gun and other local communities to pursue a variety of activities that help us grow together."

Meanwhile, Daewoo Engineering & Construction has also been running its "Daewoo's Pride Truck" Season 4 program, which sends snack trucks to domestic construction sites to boost employee morale.
