Mayor Jeong Deok-young: 'This will serve as an important foundation for balanced development across Gwangsa-dong and Mansong-dong'
Yangju has secured 1.45 billion won ($1.08 million) in national funding for a road construction project connecting Gwangsa-dong and Mansong-dong through the Ministry of Interior and Safety's support program for areas surrounding USFK-transferred zones.
The funding is expected to give fresh momentum to the project, Yangju city officials said Tuesday. The new road network linking the two neighborhoods is expected to improve accessibility between the areas and ease traffic congestion for residents.
The Gwangsa-Mansong road project aims to ensure smooth traffic flow and strengthen connectivity between the two neighborhoods. It is expected to play a key role in distributing traffic from existing roads and improving mobility between residential zones.
The project also aligns with the government's broader goal of improving living conditions in areas surrounding USFK-transferred zones and supporting balanced regional development.
Yangju secured the funding through close cooperation with local lawmaker Jeong Seong-ho, who worked alongside city officials to obtain the necessary financial resources for the project.
"Securing 1.45 billion won in national funds will serve as an important foundation for relieving traffic inconvenience for local residents and driving balanced development across the Gwangsa-dong and Mansong-dong areas," Yangju Mayor Jeong Deok-young said. "We will continue to actively work with our local lawmaker to secure external funding, including national and provincial resources, to expand the social infrastructure and road networks that residents can truly feel in their daily lives."
