Samsung Electronics Service first in industry to earn top privacy certification

Samsung Electronics Service announced Tuesday that it has become the first company in the consumer electronics service industry to obtain ISMS-P (Information Security Management System — Personal) certification.

ISMS-P is South Korea's highest-authority integrated certification for information security and personal data protection, administered jointly by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Personal Information Protection Commission.

Accredited auditing bodies review a company's overall security management system and certification infrastructure, with the Korea Internet & Security Agency and the Financial Security Institute conducting the final review before granting certification.

Companies must pass a compliance assessment covering all 101 items, including the establishment and operation of an information security management system, system security management, and protective measures at each stage of personal data processing.

Samsung Electronics Service earned the certification in recognition of its sustained efforts to strengthen its information security management system so that customers can use its services with confidence.

The company first obtained ISMS (Information Security Management System) certification in 2021, covering six systems including its website and chatbot, then expanded the scope in 2024 to include sign-language consultation and recruitment platforms. This year, it upgraded to ISMS-P certification, which carries significantly stronger personal data protection requirements.

Samsung Electronics Service is focused on delivering services that customers can entrust their devices to with peace of mind, backed by a reinforced information security management system. The company conducts information security education for all employees and runs ongoing programs including simulated phishing drills and security inspections at service centers.
