Nowon District Mayor Seo Jun-o held an inauguration ceremony Tuesday to formally appoint members of a new public-private consultative body — the Nowon Reconstruction and Redevelopment Innovation Strategy Promotion Council — marking the body's official launch.
Amid growing resident interest and momentum around reconstruction and redevelopment projects, the district formed the council in response to the need for a field-oriented, action-capable public-private body. The district mayor serves as chair, with senior district officials including the urban planning director participating as ex-officio members, while resident representatives from each improvement project were appointed as council members.
The council is designed to go beyond simply gathering opinions — it will directly hear grievances from the field, seek solutions, and work to resolve factors causing project delays before they arise. It also plans to identify regulatory reform tasks alongside developing tailored support measures for pressing issues.
Following the appointment ceremony, the district held its first regular meeting that day. Members shared the district's commitment to advancing reconstruction projects, progress on regulatory improvements, and future strategies, while private-sector members exchanged a range of concerns and views based on the status and conditions of their respective complexes. The council plans to hold regular meetings once every six months, with special sessions convened as needed.
"The smooth progress of reconstruction and redevelopment is a matter of survival for Nowon as a city, and we will concentrate every resource the district has," Seo said. "We will produce results by finding and discussing field-specific challenges and answers together with the communities on the ground."
