Actors Lee Ki-young and Son Byong-ho, Singer Seo Do Band and LATENCY Hee-yeon Named Dongdaemun-gu Honorary Ambassadors

Dongdaemun-gu in Seoul appointed actors Lee Ki-young and Son Byong-ho, singer Seo Do Band and LATENCY Hee-yeon as new honorary ambassadors for the district at a ceremony held at the district mayor's office Tuesday.

Lee and Son are veteran actors with long careers spanning films, drama series and theater. Their broad body of work and strong public recognition are expected to help raise the district's profile among a wide audience.

Seo Do Band has drawn attention for blending traditional Korean music with contemporary band arrangements, while LATENCY Hee-yeon actively engages with audiences through her distinctive musical style and stage performances.

The newly appointed ambassadors will serve two-year terms running from Sept. 15, 2026, to Sept. 14, 2028. With the four new additions, Dongdaemun-gu now has 12 honorary ambassadors in total, joining the existing eight: singer No Ji-hun, actors Yoo Dong-geun, Lee Jang-woo and Lee Dong-jun, magician Kim Jin-seop (Leo), culinary expert Kim Mi-ryeong, Professor Kim Sang-gyun and Dongdaemun guide and marketing representative Jang Young-su.

The ambassadors will participate in the district's major festivals and events and take part in producing promotional videos and materials. Drawing on their individual expertise and personalities, they will also help publicize the district's key policies, cultural and tourism assets, and local attractions.

The newly appointed ambassadors began their duties Tuesday by filming a congratulatory video for the 35th Dongdaemun-gu Citizens' Day.

Dongdaemun-gu District Mayor Choi Dong-min said he was honored to welcome such active figures from diverse fields as ambassadors. "I hope they will use their individual personalities and strengths to spread the word about Dongdaemun-gu's appeal and serve as a warm bridge between residents and the district," he said.
